Bottles & jars
Compare cream jar closures without guessing fit
Start with a defined buying question
Matching diameter alone does not establish that a lid fits a jar. Neck finish, thread, sealing surface and liner all matter. Ask for a drawing or component reference for the complete jar and closure combination. Where a supplier offers several lids for one jar, confirm which exact combination is included in the quotation and in the sample.
Test opening, closing and sealing with a defined handling routine. Look for cross-threading, uneven engagement and changes after repeated use. Your filling team should confirm the practical assembly method and any limits that apply. Do not assume that adding an inner disc creates an adequate seal, or that a decorative lid performs the same way as another lid with a similar appearance.
Specify capacity separately from dimensions and fill quantity. Nominal container capacity, usable fill and presentation headspace are not interchangeable. Evaluate the product as customers will receive it, including liner, disc, carton and decoration. Keep the approved component references in the order so that a later substitution cannot be hidden behind a general description such as the same jar.
Inquiry checklist
- Identify neck finish, lid and liner references.
- Check the assembled sample instead of loose components.
- Evaluate repeated opening and closing.
- Separate nominal capacity from planned fill.
- Include sealing components in the approved specification.
A decision record you can reuse
Create a one-page record with the selected configuration, open questions, evidence received and next action. Ask the supplier to correct misunderstandings before you approve a sample or purchase order. Keep photographs, quotations and written confirmations with that record so that another person can understand why you made the choice. If an important detail is unresolved, request clarification instead of quietly turning it into an assumption.
Use this guide as a purchasing framework, not as a claim that a listed manufacturer has passed these checks. Custom-OEM profiles organize public supplier information; buyers should confirm current specifications and commercial terms directly with the manufacturer. A clear brief and documented sample comparison make the next conversation more useful than an unspecific request for the best price.
