Custom makeup puffs & beauty sponges
Powder puffs and blending sponges carry the lowest unit price in a beauty range and the highest rejection rate at QC. What separates a puff that survives fifty washes from one that sheds on first use is flocking density, adhesive grade and foam hardness — none of which a product photo shows.

Materials you will be quoted
- Velvet and flocked puffs — short nylon flock on a foam or EVA core. The standard for pressed powder and blush compacts.
- Cotton and microfiber — higher absorbency, softer hand feel, more common in loose powder and setting products.
- PU and NBR sponges — the wet/dry beauty blender category. NBR is latex-free by nature and holds shape better after washing.
- Silicone — non-absorbing, easiest to clean, but a smaller and more specialised buyer pool.
What actually moves the unit price
Flock length and density dominate the cost, not the foam. A 0.5 mm flock at high density costs noticeably more than a 1 mm open flock, and it is also the version that resists shedding. After that come edge sealing method, die-cut shape complexity, and whether the puff ships in a printed sleeve, a blister or loose in bulk. Ordering loose in polybags can cut landed cost by a third compared with retail-ready packaging.
MOQ, tooling and timing
Because unit prices sit in cents, MOQs run high: 3,000–10,000 pieces per size and colour is typical, with 5,000 the practical floor for custom flocking colours. Die tooling is usually USD 100–500 per shape. Samples take 7–12 days; production runs 20–30 days after artwork and deposit. Stock shapes in white or black can often ship in under two weeks.
Checks before you approve a sample
Wash the sample three times by hand and watch the edge for loose flock. Twist the puff between thumb and forefinger — a bad adhesive bond releases fibres immediately. Smell it after unwrapping; a sharp chemical odour usually means solvent residue that will migrate into the formula. Then press it against your actual compact to confirm the diameter clears the pan rim without catching powder in the hinge.

Frequently asked questions
What is the typical MOQ for a custom powder puff?
Usually 3,000–5,000 pieces per size and colour. Stock white or black puffs from existing moulds can sometimes ship from 1,000 pieces, but custom flocking colours and printed packaging push the minimum up.
Velvet puff or flocked puff — which should I choose?
They describe the same construction in most Chinese factories: a flocked fibre surface over a foam core. Ask the supplier for flock length and density in numbers rather than relying on the names, which are used inconsistently.
Can I print my logo on a puff?
Yes, but only where the surface is not flocked. Common placements are the ribbon tab, the backing film, or the printed sleeve. Direct printing on a flocked face smears and is not recommended for products that will be washed.
How do I test for shedding before placing an order?
Ask for the exact production flock and adhesive, not a hand sample. Wash three times, dry, then press the puff onto dark fabric and lift. Visible fibre transfer on the fabric means the flock will shed in use.
Do you supply latex-free sponges?
The directory lists suppliers producing NBR and silicone sponges, both of which are latex-free. Always request a material declaration, since latex-free is frequently claimed and less frequently documented.
